From Desk of Director General of Police.
The Maharashtra Police Academy (MPA) is a vibrant and progressive institution of the State Police. It has rich legacy of more than 100 years in the task of training police officers. Its legendary status is equally matched by its dynamism in adapting to the ethos of the democratic Indian society. The Academy provides basic training for inductee officers in the rank of Sub Inspectors, Deputy Superintendent of Police and probationary IPS officers. Officers of the State Excise Department, State Transport Department and of the Forest Department also receive their professional training in this Academy. To professionally equip the serving officers in new and emerging areas of policing, the Academy offers various specialized courses as in-service training. Recognising the apex role the Academy plays in training Police Officers, the Government has granted “autonomous” status to this institution.
Harnessing the technological advancement, the Academy has launched its own ‘e-Academy’. It is an attempt to deliver the learning content to the internet connected device of the officers in the field. Officers can search the e-Academy in their area of professional interest and pace the learning to suit their time and capability. The Academy also uses webcasting for distant delivery of lectures. This is a significant achievement in the efforts of right skilling police officers.
I congratulate and offer my best wishes to the Academy in its continuous march towards excellence in service delivery to the people of Maharashtra and the officers and men of Maharashtra Police.
